The Lumanti field guide

A good place
to begin.

A practical introduction to moving a session through Lumanti—from your first folder to your finished photographs.

Open a session.

Start in Albums and choose Folder or files. Open a folder from your Mac or connected storage. Lumanti works with sessions based on folders, so you can keep using your existing file organization.

  1. Back up the shoot before you begin.
  2. Open the folder containing the photographs you want to review.
  3. Keep the original files and their sidecars together as you work.

Before a big shoot

Check a few RAW files from your exact camera model and recording format. RAW compatibility can depend on macOS, camera model, and compression mode. Lumanti requires an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later.

Find your keepers.

Open Cull, review the culling settings, and run the analysis. Work through the Keepers, Maybe, and Needs review groups. Use faces, focus information, and similar frames as supporting information.

Apply your own decisions, ratings, and labels. Your manual culling choices remain protected when you run the cull again. Use Show Keepers to review your selected photographs, then move to Edit.

Check the close calls before making a final selection. Technical scores cannot tell the whole story of a photograph.

Build your style.

In Edit, open AI Profiles. Preview a curated profile on several different photographs before applying it in bulk. You can return to the sliders to fine-tune each image.

Creating a personal AI Profile

  1. Choose around 100–200 consistently edited Lightroom photographs.
  2. Include a range of exposure, lighting, scenes, and skin tones that reflects your usual work.
  3. Use Create Profile and follow the Lightroom import guidance in the app.
  4. Evaluate the profile on a separate set of photographs, then refine the results as needed.

A profile learns from the material you provide. Unsupported settings and differences between rendering engines can affect the match. Learn more about personal profiles.

Keep the creative journey.

Lumanti edits non-destructively. You can compare with the original, use Undo and Redo, and revisit previous edits in History.

The session’s edit history is retained across folder reopening and app restarts on the same Mac. If you edit from an earlier step, the new direction replaces the redo branch.

What to back up

Keep your original photographs, edit sidecars, and Lumanti’s local app data backed up. The complete history timeline is stored in the local folder database; it is not embedded in XMP and does not automatically transfer to another Mac. Removing app data or incompatible external edits can remove or invalidate that timeline.

Export your work.

Open Export and check the photo count and active filters. Choose your destination and review the format, size, quality, and output folder before exporting.

Choose the right handoff

  • Folder: rendered files for delivery, printing, or further use.
  • Lightroom: supported settings alongside your originals. Check the appearance in Lightroom after handoff.
  • Client Gallery: a local web gallery your client can use to review and select photos. Share or host the generated files yourself.
  • Share Menu: send rendered images through available macOS sharing destinations.

For the exact appearance you see in Lumanti, use rendered exports.

Common questions.

What is Lumanti?

Lumanti is a native Mac app for the full photo-session workflow: cull your shoot, edit your keepers, and export your finished photographs. It brings assisted selection, RAW editing, personal AI Profiles, and delivery into one place.

Does it work on my Mac?

Lumanti is built for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. RAW support depends on the camera model, file format, and macOS version. Test representative files from your camera before committing a whole shoot.

Are my photographs uploaded?

Culling, editing, and AI Profile processing run on your Mac. Lumanti does not need to upload your photographs for those features. You decide when and where to share exported files.

Can it learn my Lightroom editing style?

You can create a personal AI Profile from your edited Lightroom photos and their supported settings. Start with around 100–200 varied, consistently edited photographs. Review the profile on a separate set of images; results vary with the edits, lighting, camera, and training examples.

Will AI change my creative decisions?

You remain in control. Review the cull, override selections, preview a profile, and refine individual photographs. Your manual culling decisions and ratings are protected when you run the cull again.

Is Lumanti a subscription?

Lumanti is being built around a perpetual licence, with three years of included upgrades. Final pricing and purchase details will be published with the public release.

Can I keep using Lightroom?

Yes. Lumanti offers a Lightroom handoff for supported edits and settings. Different RAW engines and unsupported adjustments can render differently, so check important images after handoff. For the exact Lumanti appearance, export a rendered image.
